Today again an easy day of walking, but this is necessary for a good
acclimatization. From the 2nd cave its only 3 hrs to reach Kikelewa cave at
3600m. Slowly the vegetation is changing again. Today we saw some of the
giant Senecios and Lobelias, very strange looking plants. Sometimes it feels
like you are on an other planet. We also had some beautiful view on Mawenzi
peak; witch is the third highest point in Africa.
Tomorrow we will walk to the Mawenzi Tarn camp at 4330m, right below this
peak and have a full rest day the following day. This day we spent resting,
washing and doing our laundry…..
So everything is fine up here and spirits are still very high. Everyday is
an adventure to get up higher and see what will show up next….
Greetings,
Arnold Coster, Expedition Leader
